Seit Okt. 2008 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin innerhalb der Technikgeschichte an der TU Berlin. Zuvor Mitarbeiterin bzw. PostDoc am Münchner Zentrum für Wissenschafts- und Technikgeschichte, am Hermann von Helmholtz-Zentrum für Kulturtechnik (Humboldt Universität zu Berlin) sowie am Graduiertenkolleg Topologie der Technik der TU Darmstadt mit Forschungsaufenthalten in den USA und Frankreich (Smithsonian / National Museum of American History in Washington D. C. und Centre de recherches historiques, EHESS, Paris). Heike Weber hat 2006 an der TU München (Zentralinstitut für Geschichte der Technik) mit einer Arbeit zur Entwicklung und Nutzung von tragbaren Geräten promoviert, die unter dem Titel Das Versprechen mobiler Freiheit. Zur Kultur- und Technikgeschichte von Kofferradio, Walkman und Handy erschienen ist.
Since Oct. 2008, Heike Weber is assistant professor in the history of technology at the TU Berlin. Previously, she has worked as research assistant and PostDoc respectively at the Munich Center fort he History of Science and Technology, at the Hermann von Helmholtz-Zentrum für Kulturtechnik (Humboldt University, Berlin) and at the Postgraduate School Topology of Technology (TU Darmstadt). As guest researcher, she also spent some months at the National Museum of American History (Smithsonian, Washington D. C.) and at the Centre de recherches historiques of the EHESS in Paris. She received her PhD in 2006 at the TU Munich with a work on the design and usage of portable electronics which has been published under the title Das Versprechen mobiler Freiheit. Zur Kultur- und Technikgeschichte von Kofferradio, Walkman und Handy (The promise of mobile freedom. A cultural and technological history of the portable radio, the walkman and the cell phone).
